Valentine's Day Stamp-a-Stack

It's been a LONG time since I've posted anything -- back in November! Well once the holidays hit, it's such a busy time for everyone that I was just struggling to get all my holiday plans completed before Santa arrived!! We just had our last Christmas celebration this last Saturday and my tree is finally put away for another year. But how quickly the months pass it will be back up before I know it, LOL!!!

I've designed a few cards for my upcoming Valentine's Day Stamp-a-Stack. I'm kind of excited about these two cards because I designed them myself -- no CASEing! The first one uses the a la carte stamp set "Candy Conversations" in the Occasions Mini. I also used some of the beautiful pleated ribbon. It makes the card look so simple but elegant, don't you think? The other supplies I used were: Riding Hood Red, Early Espresso and Whisper White card stock; In-Color DSP (Blushing Bride); Riding Hood Red ink with Blushing Bride and Early Espresso markers; Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Ticket Corner Punch and the small Heart Punch.

The next card uses the "Sweetheart" stamp set from the 2011-2012 Catalog & Idea Book. I used the new embosslits (small hearts at bottom of card base) from the Occasions Mini. They are very easy to use and add an extra little something to your projects. I embossed the heart in the center using the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, punched it out with our Heart punch and used Stampin' Dimensionals to make it pop. Other supplies used: Rose Red, Wild Wasabi, Regal Rose and Whisper White card stock; Regal Rose 1/8" taffeta ribbon; Corner Rounder punch.

I hope you enjoy my little "sneak peek" from my upcoming Stamp-a-Stack. I plan on designing one more Valentine card and two general occasion cards for a total of 5 different designs.

Christmas Stocking Scrapbook

Check out this adorable mini scrapbook that I designed. I have to admit -- I usually CASE (copy and share everything) what I make. I search other blogs or go to Splitcoast Stampers and find great ideas from other demonstrators. However, I was to make a scrapbook for my stamp camp and one of my good friends suggested I use the new Christmas stocking die. So here it is:

Here is a peek at the backside front cover and the first page. The remainder of the pages are basically just the stockings with coordinating heels and toes. I decided to leave the pages simple so your photos can be the highlight of the scrapbook. It's mini but you can still add about 10 or more cropped photos.

I'll post pics of every page soon so stay tuned and check back!

Christmas Stamp-a-Stack Sneak Peek

Good morning! I'd like to share some photos of my annual Christmas Stamp-a-Stack class. I always enjoy this class because it's a time I can spend with my customers stamping, chatting, laughing and eating. We have such a fun time. I usually hold the class at my house two days and this year I can do it on a Friday during the day because it's Veteran's Day and I don't have to work at my USPS job.!!! Attendees have a choice of making 10 cards (1 of each design), 25 cards (2 of each design + 5 more) or 30 cards (3 of each design). Many of you have asked to see samples of the cards -- well here they are! I'm using many things from Stampin' Ups! fabulous Holiday Mini Catalog. So if you are in the St. Louis area and would like to attend, please let me know. I'd love for you to join us!

Cards made using: Frostwood Lodge DSP, Christmas Lodge, Pines & Poinsettias, The Sounding Joy and Hand-Penned Holidays stamp sets.

Cards using Snow Burst, Northern Flurry and Petals-a-Plenty Embossing Folders, Northern Frost Sizzlits Decorative Strip Die, Stocking Building Punch with Red Glimmer Paper, Contempo Christmas and Curly Cute stamp sets.

Cards using Christmas Lodge, Curly Cute and Contempo Christmas stamp sets; Blossom Petals Building Punch with Silver Glimmer Paper; 3" Circle Die; Star Punch and Snow Burst Embossing Folder.

Seven of these cards were from a class I took (it's so nice to be a customer once in a while) held by fellow demo, Sally Nusbaum. She's a great friend and awesome demo -- love ya, Sal!! So for the cost of the class I was able to get these great ideas to use in my class. Why reinvent the wheel when someone has done it already!!

The other two cards -- Folded Christmas Trees and Silver Glimmer Poinsettia were CASEd from blogs. I can't remember from where I got the glimmer poinsettia but I found an example of the folded Christmas tree card here. I can't find the one I actually CASEd but this gives you an idea.

I've not yet decided on the 10th card design. Any suggestions???

More Cards ...

Here are two more cards for my Stamp-a-Stack. The first one uses the new Easy Events stamp set. This is a set I got for free for my Sale-a-Bration sales. I was inspired by a challenge here. I love the simplicity of the card. You can't tell by the picture (or maybe you can) but the frosting on the cupcake has a little dazzling diamond bling!

Supplies used: Easy Events and Happiest Birthday Wishes (hostess) stamp sets; Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze, So Saffron and Whisper White card stock; Stazon and Early Espresso ink; Baja Breeze, So Saffron and Early Espresso markers; 1 3/4" Circle and 2 3/8" Scallop Punches and Circles #2 Die; Early Espresso grosgrain ribbon; Dazzling Diamonds and Stampin' Dimensionals.

This next card I CASEd here. I just loved the "pop-up" card design and I wanted to use my new Sunflower stamp. Marie referred to it as the "twisted easel card." It's really easy -- cut a piece of card stock at 5 1/4 x 10 1/2. Score in half at the landscape position (5 1/4) and then score again diagonally from bottom left corner to top right. When you fold the diagonal score, you'll place the card front on the bottom portion. This card will fold flat for mailing.

Here's a close-up of the card "popped up."

Supplies used: Sunflower and Faith by Nature (hostess) stamp sets; More Mustard, Chocolate Chip, Naturals Ivory card stock; Chocolate Chip and More Mustard ink and markers; Chocolate Chip Dotted Scalloped Ribbon; Ticket Corner Punch; 5/8" Brads and Stampin' Dimensionals.

I'm Back ...

Back in June I decided to take the months of July and August off. You know ... everyone needs a chance to rest, relax and enjoy the long summer days. I had visions of getting caught up on my scrap booking ... heck, who am I fooling ... I wanted to just get a few small projects done! I also had visions of taking long walks with my dog, sitting on my patio reading a good book or working on all the unfinished knitting projects I have started. Well, don't we all imagine that with some time off from the craziness of life we can accomplish so much.

Okay ... so here is the reality ... I didn't do ANY scrap booking, I started a book but only got about a fourth of it read and only finished two knitting projects and started 3 more (which are now on my unfinished list)!!!

So I'm actually glad to be back to creating cards and my monthly Stamp-a-Stack classes. I'm also very excited about the new Holiday Mini that just came out today! I get so excited when I see all the holiday stamp sets and projects. I can't wait to get my Halloween stamps sets that I just ordered.

Here is one of the cards that my "peeps" will be making this month. It uses the new Domestic Goddess DSP. I just love the colors: Pool Party and Calypso Coral. I CASEd the card from here. I paper-pieced the little coffee cups using the Pool Party check paper from Domestic Goddess DSP and Calypso Coral CS. The remainder of the cups I colored with the markers. It really "pops" off the front of the card!

Supplies used: Morning Cup Stamp Set; Crumb Cake, Calypso Coral and Whisper White CS; Stazon ink; Domestic Goddess DSP; Pool Party ruffled ribbon; Crumb Cake, Pool Party and Calypso Coral markers; Scalloped Eyelet Border Punch, Crimper.

The next card uses a stamp set that I just got as an reward for my sales during Sale-a-Bration. It's so much fun to get FREE stamp sets from Stampin' Up. It's called Inspired by Nature and I've wanted it for some time so, of course, I had to use it right away. I used markers directly on the stamp to use multiple colors. I CASEd it here -- it's just clean and simple.

Supplies used: Inspired by Nature and Happiest Birthday Wishes (hostess) stamp sets; Old Olive, Pink Pirouette and Whisper White cardstock; Old Olive, Pink Pirouette and Chocolate Chip markers; Old Olive Satin Ribbon.

Got a little crazy ...

Okay, I realized that I haven't posted for over TWO months. What can I say ... it's summer and life gets a little crazy. First, I went on vacation with my hubby in June to Memphis, TN. I've always wanted to see Graceland and I finally did it. It was not what I expected -- smaller and totally 70s. But, I must admit I got a little sad thinking about Elvis' life and how it ended so quickly. He was a very handsome and talented man!

We stayed at a lovely Bed & Breakfast in Hernando, Mississippi. Check out my new profile picture -- that is my husband, Art, and I on the staircase in the Magnolia Grove B&B. It was truly a wonderful place. The hosts put out two pieces of homemade cake every evening for us to enjoy. One night we sat out in the gazebo with our cake and a glass of wine. It was very romantic except for the mosquitos!!

My second vacation was with my immediate family. Every year my two granddaughters, Courtney & Megan, come down to the St. Louis area for a visit. They are 16 and 14 and live in Monroe, Wisconsin. They came to visit the last week in July. We had so much fun shopping, swimming and painting our fingernails and toes with the new OPI Shatter polish! We bought turquoise, purple/pink and, yes, even lime green polish and then painted the black or white "shatter" polish over the top. Here are what my toes look like:

I then drove back to Wisconsin with them. My daughter, son-in-law and their son (my grandson) (Melissa, Paul and Tyler) and my son, daughter-in-law and their son (my grandson) (Ryan, Leslie and Hunter) -- along with Courtney and Megan (also Ryan's two daughters) -- went to Door County, Wisconsin for our family vacation. We stayed at the Bridgeport Inn in Sturgeon Bay, WI and had a wonderful time. I even got to visit a yarn store in Sturgeon Bay. I'll post about that another time!

When I returned to my daughter Melissa's home for the remainder of my stay, I got my haircut by her best friend, Tanya. SHE talked me into the "feather." So ... what do you think? Everyone at work thinks I'm a little "funky" but I love it. I also colored my hair to be more of a "black cherry" color. The contrast of the purple spikes and the chartreuse/black feather are quite WILD! I must say ... I got a little crazy on vacation!

One Sheet Wonder

Since it's now summer -- maybe not officially but definitely by the heat and humity -- it's time to take it easy! Wtih that thought in mind, I decided not to "reinvent the wheel" for this month's Stamp-a-Stack classes. I decided to use the beautiful One Sheet Wonder cards that were created by the Design Team (Sally Nusbaum and Mary Derhake) for the Gateway Glitter 'n Ink Celebrate Summer Demonstrator Event which was held on May 14th. It's been a long time since I've done a One Sheet Wonder (or OSW as I like to refer to it) but I'm not sure why because it's so easy and quick. We used the Flower Fest stamp set from the new Summer Mini Catalog with bright, bold colors like Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Melon Mambo, Tangerine Tango and Wild Wasabi. Those colors are sure to remind you of summer! We just randomly stamped the outline images of the stamp set all over a 8 1/2 x 11 piece of Whisper White cardstock. To help the images "pop" off the paper we sponged the corresponding color in the center of the stamped image. I don't think my pictures capture the bold, bright colors but I hope you all get the idea. Check out these quick and easy cards we made out of one sheet of stamped cardstock (with leftovers):

Used the Island Floral die, Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder, Extra-Large Flower Punch and White Grosgrain Ribbon.

Used the Triple Layer Blossom and Boho Blossom Punches, Tasteful Trim die and Basic Pearls.

Used the Butterfly and 1/4" Circle Punches.

Used the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder. This one I created myself (that doesn't happen that often, LOL!!!)

Used the Triple Layer Blossom Punch and then ran the top layer through the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.

April Showers ... Bring May Flowers!

I don't know about all of you but I'm tired of all the rain! Here in the St. Louis area we had the April showers and May showers -- now bring on the sunshine!! I decided we need to see some flowers so this month's theme for my Stamp-a-Stack classes is "April Showers ... Bring May Flowers." Check it out.

This first card uses the new Fabulous Florets stamp set from the Summer Mini. I wasn't sure about this set and now it's my favorite. Go figure!! I cased the card here. Supplies used: Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink, Old Olive and Whisper White CS; Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink, Old Olive and Early Espresso ink; Old Olive satin ribbon and Stampin' Dimensionals.

This next card uses the same stamp set. It's very clean and simple and I love the crispness of the white with the bold melon color. I cased the card here. Supplies used: Whisper White and Melon Mambo CS; Old Olive and Melon Mambo ink; Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder; Whisper White organza and Old Olive taffeta ribbon (I placed the two ribbons together with a little Snail adhesive and tied them together -- cute, uh?) and Stampin' Dimensionals.

This next card was a "buddy swap" card I received from one of my favorite demos, Rita Parker. I always enjoy getting a card from Rita. She didn't let me down this time ... check out this adorable flower pot card.

Supplies used: Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight, Not Quite Navy, Peach Parfait and Whisper White CS; Peach Parfait DSP, Not Quite Navy ink; Punches: Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer (new in Summer Mini), Scallop Circle, 1/2" Circle, Scallop Oval XL and two smaller Oval punches; Daffodil Delight satin ribbon, Pearls and Stampin' Dimensionals.

This card uses my second favorite stamp set from the Summer Mini Catalog -- "On the Grow." It's so cute and fun to color. I love the little scooter. I'll have to make a card using the scooter. I cased this card here. Supplies used: Crumb Cake, Basic Gray, Certainly Celery, Not Quite Navy, Baja Breeze and Watercolor Paper CS; Elegant Soiree and Newsprint DSP; Stazon, Baja Breeze, Certain Celery and Basic Gray ink; Scallop Border and Modern Label punches; Very Vanilla Taffeta ribbon; Aqua Painters and Stampin' Dimensionals.

Gracie & Mylah Bug

I've been enjoying my renewed hobby of knitting. I made many Christmas gifts for the family but I wanted to make some special items for my many grandchildren. Of the 12 grandchildren I have -- 8 of them are girls. It's easy to make cute little sweaters, dresses, hats, etc. for the little girls. I found a pattern for a 5-hour sweater. It looked easy so I gave it a try. I wanted to make it for Easter for my youngest granddaugher, Mylah, who is 20 months old. I actually would have got it done in about 6-7 hours but I found a mistake half-way through and I had to rip out a lot of it. That set me back and it actually took me 5 DAYS to finish the sweater!! Here is what my sweet little Mylah bug looked like wearing it:

After I was successful making Mylah's 5-hour sweater, I thought I would try a matching one for her big sister Grace who is 4 years old. Unfortunately, I got busy with plans for our church's Easter Egg hunt and my monthly card classes so Grace's sweater took a little longer to make. However, I got it done. Isn't she a little ham! She wanted to pose on my porch for her picture. I think both the sweaters turned out adorable and, of course, so are the girls!

Easter Kisses

Look at the cute "kisses" I made my grandchildren for Easter. They are made out of Rice Krispie Treats. I can't remember where I saw the idea but I thought it was so adorable to make "Gram 'n Grampy Kisses for the little ones. They were very easy to make -- use the original Rice Krispie treat recipe, spray a large plastic funnel with cooking spray, either butter or spray your hands and mold the Rice Krispie treats into the funnel -- pressing firmly. I then placed them on waxed paper to cool and set. I wrapped the treats using the "non-stick" aluminum foil (just to be sure the foil didn't stick to the treats -- I didn't want the little ones trying to pick foil off of their delicious treats) and made cute little "banners" that read -- Gram 'n Grampy Kisses.

I made big ones for my grandchildren and little ones for our nieces and nephews that said "Grames Family Kiss." Everyone loved the special Easter treats.

Here are my last three cards from my "Let's Get Punchy" stamp-a-stack. I was inspired for the first card here. I love Ilina's blog so hop on over and check her out. Many times I go to her blog for inspiration. It doesn't look like it in the picture but I used Pear Pizzazz card stock. I think the lighting was bad in my dining room and my camera doesn't have a flash. The stamp set is Strength & Hope which you can purchase starting May 1st and Stampin' Up will donate $2 to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. It's a beautiful stamp set for a wonderful cause. Don't forget to order your set after May 1st.

Here is one of the cards we'll be making at this month's stamp-a-stack classes -- it is a beautiful Mother's Day card using the Build a Blossom stamp set and the Blossom Petals Punch both from the Occasions Mini. I just love the big flower. I loved it so much that I tried it using a different color. Here is my Not Quite Navy card ...

Let's Get Punchy ...

I thought it might be fun to have a theme for my Stamp-a-Stack classes this month. I finally bought the Two-Step Bird punch. I wasn't sure about the little bird but I see so many other things that you can make with those punched pieces -- like the beautiful flower in my previous post. Now, I must admit I don't always like some of the crazy things that people make from the punches like animals, people, etc. But you can use Stampin' Up! punches in so many ways I wanted to highlight them this month.

This card I CASEd from here. I realized after I took the picture that I forgot to stamp a sentiment on the front. You know sometimes my customers like to do that because then they can stamp the sentiment when they know what they need the card for -- birthday, get well, thank you, etc. That makes sense so I may just leave this card blank until I need to use it.

Supplies used: Card stock: Crumb Cake, Baja Breeze, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla and DSP; Ink: Well, I didn't stamp anything ... LOL ... but I did sponge around the bird and the scallop circle using Baja Breeze and Crumb Cake; Punches: Two-Step Bird Punch, Extra Large Scallop Circle Punch, Circle Die; Sponges, Stampin' Dimensionals and Pearls.

I love punches ...

Stampin' Up! has the best punches. They make all sorts of things from birds to flowers. This card is a good example of that. I found this card here. I was so amazed that she had created this flower out of punches and matched the Designer Series Paper used I had to CASE it. So you say ... "Linda, that DSP doesn't look familiar" -- well it's Paisley Petals which is a sneak peek to the 2011-2012 Idea Book & Catalog. But you can have it now. Just purchase $20 in Stampin' Up! products and you can purchase Paisley Petals DSP and/or Four Frames Stamp Set before the new catalog even comes out (DSP & Wood Stamp Set Item #125735; DSP & Clear-Mount Stamp Set Item #125736). That's of "Spring is Blossoming" promotion that runs the entire month of April. What a deal!

Now, you say ... What punches did you use, Linda? Well, I used the Blossom Petals, Two-Step Bird, Boho Blossoms and the 1" circle punches. There is a little trimming on some of the punched pieces to make the lovely flower. I was going to make this card for my monthly Stamp-a-Stack class but it has a lot of teeny tiny little pieces to adhere together. I think I'll show my customers how to make it but having everyone make two of these cards may be too much during class. Hey, we don't want to be stamping & punching until midnight!!

Spring is just around the corner ...

I feel like spring is "just around the corner." The rain, warmer weather and seeing a robin makes me believe that OR it could the beautiful spring cards that I made for my stamp-a-stack classes this month.

My first card uses the adorable ice cream parlor DSP which is part of our Sale-a-Bration promotion -- it's FREE with a $50 purchase. Just a quick plug -- Sale-a-bration ends on MARCH 31, 2011. I used the "resist" technique -- stamp the image using Stazon on glossy card stock. Using a white crayon, color in the blossoms. When you sponge the ink on the image, the blossoms that have been colored with the crayon will resist the ink. It makes the blossoms pop! Using that white crayon on white card stock reminds me of coloring Easter eggs. We would use the same resist technique with the white crayon on the hard-boiled egg to make everyone an egg with their name on it!!!

Supplies used: Easter Blossoms & All Holidays stamp sets; Springtime Vintage DSP; Glossy cardstock; Wild Wasabi card stock and ink; Very Vanilla card stock; Stazon and Baja Breeze ink; Framed Tulips embossing folder; white crayon and Baja Breeze seam binding ribbon.

This next card was made with one of my favorite customer's in mind -- Mary Ann. She is a very talented seamstress and makes beautiful quilts for many people in our church. In fact, I think every baby that has been born receives a quilt from Mary Ann. When I saw the Sew Suite stamp set in the Occasions Mini, I knew I had to make a card that Mary Ann would love. I CASEd the card here.

Supplies used: Sew Suite & Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp sets; Sweet Stitches DSP; Regal Rose, Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Wild Wasabi and Whisper White card stock; Blender Pen; Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, Modern Label & Word Window punches, Whisper White taffeta ribbon, Pompom trim, Linen thread and Tempting Turquoise button.

My last card uses the Presto Patterns Specialty Paper requested by one of my other good customers -- Fran. In fact, all I have are wonderful customers -- I love them all. She has the paper but didn't know how to use it. I was so glad that she asked and I was able to help her. Remember, any product you have and want to know how to use -- just ask me. I'm your personal crafty customer service specialist!!!

I CASEd this card here. I used my brayer and Regal Rose ink to add color to the specialty paper. It was very easy because the paper accepts the color so easily and what a beautiful result. Notice that the flowers are stamped using the "rock 'n roll" technique. Stamp the flower first in Regal Rose and then gently rock 'n roll the inked stamp on the Early Espresso ink pad -- then stamp on your card stock. To soften the look I sponged everything using Early Espresso.

Supplies used: Medallion, Vintage Vogue & Occasional Quotes (Hostess Level 3) stamp sets; Whisper White, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake and Early Espresso card stock; Presto Patterns Specialty Paper; Old Olive, Regal Rose and Early Espresso ink; Eyelet Border & Corner rounder punches; Old Olive 5/8" satin ribbon; Linen thread; Rhinestone Circle Fire brad; Neutral brads; sponge and Stampin' Dimensionals.

SAS ... SAB (Stamp-a-Stack ... Sale-a-Bation)

Here is one of the cards for my montly Stamp-a-Stack (or SAS for short -- you can tell I work for the government (USPS) because everything is an acronym!) class. I used one of my favorite SAB stamp sets -- "Sweet Summer." I found the card sketch on the Clean & Simple blog as Challenge #113. It was so simple -- yet was not a fast card because there is a lot of coloring as one of my customers pointed out!

This next card uses the same SAB stamp set as the one above and the lovely Designer Series Paper (DSP) from the Occasions Mini - Springtime Vintage. I love the colors -- Baja Breeze, Pear Pizzazz, Always Artichoke and Very Vanilla. It's just a nice springy card. I was inspired by Sue Robertson on SplitCoastStampers. Here is her card.

Here is another SAB stamp set -- "Bliss." I think I like this one even more than Sweet Summer! I was inspired for this card here. I love the softness of the design behind the butterflies (I used Crumb Cake) and I used the "rock 'n roll" technique for the butterflies. You ink up your image using a light color ink (Pretty in Pink) then before you stamp the image gently rock & roll the image on a darker color ink (Regal Rose) just touching the edges of the image with the darker color. You can't see it very well on the picture but it gave the butterflies nice dimension. Okay, I also go a little crazy over the pearls -- LOVE EM!!

I found a new technique -- you ink the acrylic block and stamp on the card stock for a "tumbled tile" look. I inked the "C" block using Crumb Cake and then lightly misted it using water in a spray bottle. Immediately, stamp on the card stock and let it dry. I stamped the tree using Early Espresso. I cased this card here. I added ribbon because I love ribbon. I think it turned out nice. It makes a nice sympathy card or masculine card.

I LOVE cupcakes. They are so in right now. Everyone is making cupcakes -- real and paper! Of course, the real ones are better -- especially chocolate!! Anyway, I wanted to try using the new pom pom trim and found this card so I cased it. Check it out here.

This last card uses the Bold Blossom stamp set from the Occasions Mini Catalog. I love the spring colors -- Daffodil Delight, Certainly Celery, Melon Mambo and Tangerine Tango. I cased the card here.

Flamingo Love

Here are the last two cards for my January classes. They both use the new stamp set "Valentine Defined" from the Occasions Mini Catalog. I love the little "kissing" flamingos. For this first card I was looking to use other colors besides just red or pink. My favorite color is green so when I found this card on another demonstrator's blog I just had to make it. My inspiration came from here. Supplies used are Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz, Pretty in Pink, Melon Mambo and Whisper White cardstock. Melon Mambo, Old Olive and Pear Pizzazz Stampin' Pads, various punches and Pear Pizzazz ribbon.

This last card is my favorite of all the Valentine cards I've made so far. It was so fun to make and pretty easy. This demonstrator, Michelle, has perfected the art of using the brayer. If you go to her blog, she makes beautiful cards of all shades and colors using the brayer. I'm not nearly as good as she is but I don't think it's bad for my first attempt. What do you think? Supplies used are Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Basic Black and Whisper White card stock. Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, So Saffron, Old Olive and Basic Black Stampin' Pads. Of course, the brayer and sponges too. I can just imagine myself looking through the little heart-topped weeds to catch a glimpse of the two flamingos in love!!! Michelle's blog is here.

Here is another card for my January Stamp-a-Stack. I just love Valentine's Day -- don't you? I was inspired for this card here. I wanted to use our waffle paper -- it's so easy to use and it adds a nice little "rufflely" effect. The stamp set is Filled with Love from the Holiday Mini and I used Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White and Basic Black card stock. I also used the pinking hearts border punch.

I'm Back ...

I checked the last time I posted and it was November 16, 2010. WOW ... it's a new year. How quickly time flies when you are busy! I took the month of December off of my SU business to concentrate on getting my handmade Christmas gifts finished and spend time with my family.

I have so much to tell you about the last month and a half but I first want to show you a few cards I've received and what I'm working on for my upcoming Stamp-a-Stack classes.

First is a "buddy swap" card I received from fellow demonstrator Trelvia. What an ingenious way to use the heart punches. The star is from the boho blooms punch. Great job, Trelvia.

Next is a Christmas card I received from another fellow demonstrator and good friend, Rita. Once again, she uses punches to create a beautiful "front door with wreath" Christmas card. I love it. When I told Rita how much I loved the card, she said she was busy making wreaths for Valentine's Day, Easter, etc. Maybe she'll send me one of those too!!

The last card I received was from my December buddy swapper -- Sarah. She used a new stamp set from the Occasions Mini -- Take a Spin. I wasn't sure I needed (more like wanted because I don't "need" any more stamps, LOL!) this stamp set but what a cute card to send a child or grandchild!

Okay, now for a sneak peak at this month's Stamp-a-Stack cards. It's Valentine's Day time and I enjoy all the LOVE! This first card was my buddy swap for December which I sent to my buddy, Carla. It actually is based on the card on page 43 of the Occasions Mini catalog. I used the single stamp "Be My Valentine." Check it out.

The next card uses the new "Valentine Defined" stamp set in the Occasions Mini. I CASEd the idea here. I changed it a little to use the supplies I had. It has a little sparkle to the hearts on the tree -- I used some Dazzling Diamonds.

November Stamp-a-Stack

Well, it's November already. Where has this year gone? Here are my cards for my November Stamp-a-Stack classes. They are all Christmas cards except for one. This first card is made using A Cute Christmas stamp set from the Holiday Mini. Paper used: Candy Cane Christmas DSP, Baja Breeze, Garden Green and Whisper White. I stamped the ornaments using Stazon and colored using the Baja Breeze, Garden Green, Blushing Bride and Real Red markers. I then placed a piece of the Blushing Bride ribbon in the center of the card, used liquid glue and Silver Glass Glitter to add a little sparkle and placed the oval on the card using Stampin' Dimensionals. It is an easy card and it really sparkles!!

The next card uses the little snowman from A Cute Christmas stamp set. I LOVE snowman so when I saw this set I knew I had to have it. I used this card recently as a make 'n take at a crop weekend where I had a Stampin' Up! vendor table. Everyone loved the simplicity and the cute little snowman. Paper used: Marina Mist and Whisper White. The snowman was stamped using Stazon. I colored him with the Marina Mist and Garden Green markers. Two-way glue and chunky glitter were placed on the snow drift for a touch of bling. I ran the Whisper White cardstock through the Northern Flurry embossing folder and wrapped it with a piece of the clear Tinsel Trim (both from the Holiday Mini). I layered everything and used Stampin' Dimensionals for the snowman. It's adorable!!!

The next card is from our Gateway Glitter n' Ink group's Holidaze event. Rita Parker used it for her make 'n take. She took it right from the Holiday Mini!! See page 15. I love it when I can take something that someone else prepared and use it for my classes. Why reinvent the wheel as they say!! Paper used: Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, River Rock and Whisper White. I used the new Scallop Squares Duo Bigz Die (in the Holiday Mini) for the River Rock square and embossed the Early Espresso square. The ornament stamp is from Tags til Christmas set, the sentiment is from Seasonal Sentiments (both in the Holiday Mini) and added a few pearls. It is such an easy card!

The next card was inspired by one I saw on some one's blog. I wanted to use the Waffle paper from the Holiday Mini but was afraid of it. However, when I finally did use it, it was very easy to work with. Paper used: Crumb Cake, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla and Deck the Halls DSP. I embossed the Cobbler using the petals embossing folder and added a piece of ribbon around the DSP in the center of the card. For the circle, I used the largest circle from the Circles #2 die. Then I stamped the little girl from Greeting Card Kids using Stazon and colored her with Cherry Cobbler and Blushing Bride markers. I used Pear Pizzazz marker for the tree and Soft Suede for the sled. I sponged around the circle using Crumb Cake. When it came time for the Waffle paper, I cut 1 inch strips. It takes 2 strips to go around the circle. I just placed snail adhesive on the back of the circle and gathered the Waffle paper around. To make sure that it stayed secure, I placed another circle over the Waffle paper in the back. I used Stampin' Dimensionals to pop up the circle. I love this card -- I think it turned out very vintage. What do you think?

The last card is non-Christmas. It is a simple monogram card that I got from my Swap Buddy last month, Mary Derhake. I love Mary. She is a great stamper and I love all her projects so, of course, I had to use her beautiful card for my class. Paper used: Baja Breeze, Very Vanilla and Basic Gray. I embossed the Basic Gray and adhered all the layers. The Vanilla Satin Ribbon was easy using sticky strip on the Baja Breeze strip and gathering the ribbon. Isn't it just so simple yet elegant?

I'm sorry it took me until the middle of the month to get these cards posted. However, November is my busiest month for classes. I have 3 special Christmas Stamp-a-Stacks along with my 3 monthly Stamp-a-Stack classes.

Well, after cutting paper for hours and cleaning my house for all my classes, I decided to take the month of December off. So I won't be sharing any December cards but I do hope to get some handmade Christmas gifts done. I'll be sharing those in the next few weeks.

Goodbye October ... Hello November

It's hard to believe it is November already. Where did this year go?

I had a VERY busy Halloween weekend. I wanted to get pumpkin pictures up on October 31 with a blog title of HAPPY HALLOWEEN ... but I never even carved my pumpkins until Sunday afternoon! I say busy weekend because the town I live in usually has trick or treating two nights so I had one set of grand kids over on Saturday and another set on Sunday.

Here is the Saturday night crew (Cowardly Lion (Mylah 14 mons), Dorothy (Grace, almost 4), the Princess from Princess and the Frog (Amber, 4), Tinker Bell (Guinevere, 5) and the only boy, Superman (Ben, almost 3, being held by his Mom, Lauren, our daughter).

Sunday night Dorothy and the Cowardly Lion were still with us along with a Black Cat (Shannon, holding the Cowardly Lion), Leah and John (our children), a Fairy Princess (Ella, almost 5) and a Race Car Driver (a.k.a trash man -- Bubby, almost 4). We all had a fun time.

Each evening I made dinner for all kids and adults. Of course, I can't just throw hot dogs and chips on the table -- no -- I have to make special "Mummy Dogs" for the kids, a cauldron of Chili for the adults, "Bloody Worm Sandwiches" and lastly "Spider Bread" to go with the chili.

After all that the grand kids insisted that Grammy go with them trick or treating while Grampy stayed home and handed out candy. Needless to say after two nights of walking the neighborhood and cooking for a houseful, I'M TIRED!

Doesn't that look like an easy job?

Well, check out the pumpkins I carved with my little granddaughter, Grace. She didn't help much but her Dad did. This was my first "white" pumpkin (there's also a black/gray pumpkin underneath him) and I just love him -- don't you?

While I was out trick or treating, here is what my little "Lukey" was doing. The picture isn't that great and he looks like he is possessed but after all it is Halloween, LOL!!!

My Christmas Stamp-a-Stack Class

It will soon be November and time for my Christmas Card Stamp-a-Stack. I've still got a few cards to create but here is a sneak peek of what you'll make.

This year I'm using the beautiful Jolly Holiday Designer Series Paper along with Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Very Vanilla card stock. Cherry Cobbler is such a rich red color. I just love the way it makes these cards look so classy!

So, do you want to know the details about my classes. I will hold two classes at my house in November -- Saturday, November 13th 9:30-2:30 and Saturday, November 20th 9:30-2:30. Everyone will make 30 cards (3 each of 10 different designs) with envelopes for $35. This price also includes a light lunch. You know we need a break to build up our energy for the afternoon!!

Hey, Jack ...

Look at these little guys. It's Jack Skellington from The Nightmare before Christmas movie. I have to admit that I've never seen this movie BUT it is my BFF, Jenny's favorite movie and Jack is her favorite character.

So I made these cupcake "Jacks" for her as a surprise. Jenny and I work together at the USPS General Service Law Department in St. Louis. I'm hoping to get to work early today and put these cuties on her desk. I hope she likes them. Take a closer look ...

October Stamp-a-Stack

Well, half the month is over and I'm just now getting my SAS cards posted. I like to have them up early so my class attendees know what they will be making this month at my Stamp-a-Stack classes. I always say -- better late than never!!!

This first card was made by my "buddy" last month. The Gateway Glitter 'n Ink group have monthly Buddy Swaps and this is what I received from Judy Summer. It uses the "spotlight technique." I just love pink and black together. Thanks, Judy, for a beautiful card.

This next card I cased here. I just love the fall colors -- tangerine tango, always artichoke, chocolate chip and so saffron. The frame around the sunflowers is so easy. Take a 3 inch square and place it evenly spaced in the dotted scallop border punch. Then punch! Repeat for all four sides. The only trick is to make sure that the card stock is placed evenly spaced on both sides in the punch. In other words, you want the punched image to be in the center of that side of the card stock. Does that make sense? I hope so because it's very easy to do and I'm probably making it harder by trying to explain it. Anyway, check out the card.

I like to look to my favorite blogs for inspiration but this next card I found on Stampin' Up!'s Stampin' Connection. It was designed by Cathy Richardson. I changed it just a little to use the supplies I had -- Autumn Spice DSP, More Mustard, Early Espresso and Cajun Craze card stock. Upsy Daisy is one of my favorite sets and I did what Cathy did by using my mustard and cajun markers directly on the stamp -- that way I could omit the tallest "daisy" so there was room for my sentiment. I think it turned out nice and it looks sort of masculine. What do you think?

A few weeks ago I was looking through my stack of cards to find a sympathy card for a friend. I couldn't find one. I started thinking that we don't make sympathy cards at my Stamp-a-Stack classes. You'll see that the above card is a sympathy card -- well, so is the one below. I just got that beautiful "Elizabeth" stamp. I just love it. It is so elegant and makes a simple card look so special. We also used the sentiment "For the Newlyweds" from Teeny Tiny Wishes instead of the "With Sympathy." It makes a great wedding card. You can't see it but there are tiny pearls on the scrolls of the stamped image. Check it out.

Lastly, is the beautiful Christmas card that I found here. I liked it so much that I had to get the Musical Notes wheel to make the center panel. It was a little challenging for my customers because we tried to spotlight the poinsettias. I used cherry cobbler, early espresso, very vanilla card stock and sponged everything with crumb cake to give it a vintage look. I also tried the champagne glass glitter on the center of the poinsettias. It was definitely one of the favorites of the night!

Isn't this just the cutest little thing? I love this stamp set. It's got lots of little sayings that you can use all through the year. This is another sneak peek at one of the 3-D items for my Holiday Stamp Camp. The box is actually a 2, 4, 6, 8 box with a small scored top to resemble a milk carton. Super easy. Great for teacher or co-worker gifts! My girlfriend says it needs malted milk balls inside, LOL!!!

Sneak Peek - Part II

Here is the mini scrapbook album that you'll make if you come to my Holiday Stamp Camp on Saturday, October 23rd from 9:00-12:30 at my church in Godfrey, IL. I was truly amazed at how beautiful it turned out. I was inspired by the projects on page 163 of the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog. Go ahead -- get your catalog and check it out. I'll wait right here, LOL!!

Okay, you're still not sure about it -- well check out the pictures below. It is actually a scrapbook in a box with 12 4 x 6 panels that are accordion folded. I used the Jolly Holiday Designer Series Paper, Old Olive, Cherry Cobbler and Very Vanilla cardstock. I kept the panels simple to make it a quick and easy gift for family or friends or you could make two and keep one for yourself.

I never have a lot of time to scrapbook so when I do, I try to keep it as quick and easy as possible. I use 4 x 6 photos (no cropping necessary) and I don't mat all my photos. Your layouts and albums go much faster. I think I'll put some photos in the book so everyone can see how great it will look filled with Christmas memories.

Sneak Peek to Christmas

It's hard to believe the holidays will be upon us soon. I always feel like once Halloween is over November and December just fly by. My annual Holiday Stamp Camp is Saturday, October 23rd from 9:00-12:30 at my church, Godfrey First United Methodist Church. If you are interested in attending, please email me for the registration (you better hurry because the deadline is October 19).

To help you decide if you like to join me on Saturday, October 23rd here is a "sneak peek" at some of the projects. We'll be making 3 Christmas cards -- here is one using the A Cute Christmas stamp set and the Candy Cane Christmas Designer Series Paper both from the Holiday Mini Brochure. I cased this card from a very talented fellow demonstrator, Rochelle Edwards -- thanks, Rochelle!!

Take a closer look and see the cute little snowman and the "snowy" glitter. Isn't he the cutest?

Next is a simple but elegant card using one of the ornament stamps from Delightful Decorations. I learned the simple technique of the punched frame at the Gateway Glitter 'n Ink group Happy Holidaze event. It so easy -- just take a 3 inch square of cardstock, center it in the dotted scallop ribbon border punch and punch. Repeat for all four sides making sure you center the cardstock each time. That's it!! The little square corners are created automatically.

It may be hard to see but I used the olive glitter from the fine supernova glitter stack on the ornament. I used heat & stick powder for the adhesive. Maybe this picture will help you see the "sparkle."

September SAS - Part 2

I'm a little late getting Part 2 of my September Stamp-a-Stack posted on my blog. Forgive me but life just gets in the way of my fun stuff, LOL!!!!

These are both fall cards. I know that fall begins on Wednesday but our temperatures here are still in the 90s. I'm anxious for some cooler fall-like weather.

This first card was my card submission for the Holiday Mini swap I participated in with the Gateway Glitter 'n Ink group. I used the new "French Foliage" stamp set from the Holiday Mini and the Autumn Spice Specialty Designer Series Paper. The other colors of paper and ink are: Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Old Olive and Early Espresso. You may not be able to see it but I stamped the little blobs of spatter stamp on the card base using Cajun Craze. To give everything an "aged" look I sponged around everything with Cajun Craze. I loved how it turned out -- what do you think?

Next up is one of my all-time favorites!! I know I say that alot but I just love so much of SU's stuff. Take a look at it and you may agree.

Isn't she just the cutest? It makes we want to eat Campbell's soup!! She is from the "Greeting Card Kids" stamp set on page 36 of the 2010-2011 Idea Book. The colors may not come out true in the picture but I used Cajun Craze, Basic Black and Wicked Fun Specialty Designer Series Paper. Some of the circles are "flocked" on the DSP. I wanted to try my hand at the ruffled ribbon at the bottom. It was so easy -- just a little Sticky Strip and you gather the ribbon and stick it down -- easy, peasy!!! I didn't have any current SU buttons so I used a retired button. I colored the little witchy using my blender pen and markers (Rich Razzleberry, Cajun Craze, More Mustard, Old Olive, Blush Blossom and Basic Black). She is just too cute to spook!!

Okay, as promised, I'm actually posting my September Stamp-a-Stack cards BEFORE I hold all of my classes this month. If your class is next week, here is your "sneak peek" but if you were at my class night this is old news!!

The first card is from the Clean & Simple blog. I just love Clean & Simple -- the card designs are simple yet professional looking. This card uses a stamp from the Circle Circus set, 1" circles punched from cardstock and the cute little Itty Bitty stamps & coordinating punches. I also used some pearl "bling" on the itty bitty flowers. The color combo came directly from Stampin' Up's! new Color Coach (which I love by the way -- do you have one yet?- if not, contact me because you definitely need one) -- Not Quite Navy, Pear Pizzazz and Peach Parfait. The "happy birthday" is from a retired set but I can't remember which one, however, any single-line sentiment will work.

This next card is also from the Clean & Simple Blog but here is the link to the stamper's blog. I changed it a little to fit my supplies on hand. I used the Greenhouse Garden DSP as the original but used a different design. Instead of a button, I used two punch flowers in Pumpkin Pie and Pear Pizzazz using the 5-petal punch. I punched a large hole in the middle of the two flowers using my Crop-a-Dile and threaded the Chocolate Chip ribbon through the flowers. Corner rounded the card's corners and used the scalloped edge punch for some variety. The color combo is Baja Breeze, Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip, Pear Pizzazz and Whisper White.

Last card I'm sharing today is another simple but easy one! Don't you just love those kind? I once again consulted my Color Coach for this color combo of Marina Mist, Crumb Cake and Riding Hood Red. I can't remember where I CASEd this from but when I find the link I'll give credit where credit is due. I used the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder (my fav!) and a bunch of punches. The stamp sets are "Petal Pizzazz" and "Teeny Tiny Wishes." I think it turned out nice -- what do you think? Let me know I'd love to hear from you all.

Here is my last card from my August Stamp-a-Stack classes. I've had a busy week holding three consecutive classes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday because I was on vacation last week. Let's say -- "I'm so glad it's Friday"!!!!

I love this card. I used it for my Stampin' Buddy swap last month so naturally it was included as part of my August classes. There is a lot of coloring but I find that very relaxing not sure if my "peeps" thought the same thing, LOL!!

The next card is from the 2010-2011 Idea Book & Catalog. Each month I like to take a card sample from the catalog and make it come to life. It's on page 136 and uses the Tart & Tangy stamp set which is one of my favorites. It looks so yummy -- don't you think?

My Girls Have My Talent ...

Back in July my two oldest granddaughters, Courtney (15) and Megan (13) came to visit for a week. It has been an annual event for about 5 years now. They love to scrapbook and play with all my wonderful Stampin' Up! supplies. One day when they were downstairs in my stampin' room they looked through my basket of card samples. They copied some but also designed some of their own. It made me feel proud that they have my "crafting" talent.

I was so excited I wanted to share their creations with all of you. What do you think?

I love what Megan did with a tri-fold card I made over a year ago. She updated it with the fun Island Oasis DSP. She loved the colors and I think it turned out great.

I think Courtney could easily be an artist. She is very talented. It runs in my family -- my father carved animals/birds out of wood; my one brother makes custom-made furniture, my other brother went to cooking school and makes beautiful cheesecakes (he also built most of his house), my sister designs flower arrangements and decorations for weddings and, of course, I love my paper-crafting. So she definitely got it from my side of the family.

Where has the summer gone? I can't believe it's late July and we're talking about "back to school." Well, here are my cards from my July SAS. These two stamp sets are two of my faves from the new catalog -- Because I Care and Friends Never Fade.

I found the first card above on the blog of one of my favorite stampers -- Diana Gibb. She is fabulous, funny, talented and was just inducted into the Stampin' Up! Founder's Circle at the SU convention in Utah. Congrats, Diana!

Okay, I told you I love this stamp set -- so here is another card using the beautiful hydrangea! I totally CASEd this card here. It was just too beautiful to change -- don't you think. I'm not sure it shows up in the picture but I stamped off the hydrangea in crumb cake ink on the crumb cake card. I lightly colored the flower using the blender pen with the Marina Mist ink and then took the Marina Mist marker (don't you just love that we now have markers in every color!) to darken the centers. Some of my SAS ladies used the white gel pen for the centers of the little blossoms to really make it POP!

There are so many beautiful samples in the new Idea Book & Catalog that I thought I would highlight one each month at my classes. This one is on page 70 of the IB&C. I used a different stamp set and changed the paper but I wanted to demonstrate that you take the idea and make it your own. Everyone loved the card.

For those of you who know me you know I LOVE GREEN but especially Lime Green. I was hoping for Kiwi Kiss to come back but I think I found a new love - Pear Pizzazz. I was inspired here for this card.

Supplies: Friends Never Fad & Sincere Salutations stamp sets; Pear Pizzazz ,Pumpkin Pie, Real Red markers and/or ink; Whisper White, Pear Pizzazz, Pumpkin Pie, Real Red CS and Greenhouse Garden DSP; Real Red and Pumpkin Pie gross grain Ribbon; Glue Dots and Stampin' Dimensionals.

Lastly, the card that everyone LOVED. The flower was stamped, cut out, dazzling diamonds applied to the center and layered on top of the "Friends are Flowers that Never Fade" piece using dimensionals . Once my order came in I changed the Very Vanilla gross grain ribbon (in photo) to the new Daffodil Delight 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon. I CASEd the card here. I just love Marie's blog. Check her out.

Stamp-a-Stack of Cards!

I want to share the cards that we are making this month. I've had to reschedule my classes so my last class this month will be next Tuesday. This month I tried to create fun summer cards and, of course, Father's Day. This first one is for your dear fathers or husbands. Since I have a class next Tuesday (after Father's Day) we will change the "Happy Father's Day" stamp to a tree from Lovely as a Tree. This is a great masculine card that I found the inspiration for here.

Next is a card that I made at the Gateway Glitter 'n Ink event on May 1st. It uses the new builder wheels from the Summer Mini Catalog. The cards was created by fellow demonstrator Sarah Klasing. Thanks, Sarah.

Here is another card from our May 1st event. I love the ease of using cards that I have made by fellow demonstrators. It saves me a lot of time. I think that's why the very talented group of ladies in Gateway Glitter 'n Ink have quarterly meetings/events to provide wonderful samples. This next card was design by Lynn Luetkemeyer (our leader). Thanks, Lynn, for a fun summer-time card -- everyone loves ice cream!

I love the new Island Oasis DSP in the Summer Mini. I'm definitely a "tropical" girl. I would be very happy to be on a white sandy beach with a pina colada in my hand lol!!!!! I was inspired here for this card. Ilina's blog is one that I follow. I just love her creations.

Lastly, is a beautiful and fun card we made with pansies. I think pansies are just the cutest little flowers. These pansies were made using the butterfly punch!!! If you look close you can see the two butterflies that create the flower. It was a fun technique and I love the finished card. I found this wonderful card on Gretchen Barron's blog. Gretchen is another demonstrator I love to follow -- she's very talented and lives in Decauter, IL.

My Patio

I've finally got my spring planting done, all the weeds pulled and the mulch put down. I'm so satisfied with the outcome that I want to share with all of you. Check out my beautiful patio.

This is my little sanctuary after a long day at work or on Saturday morning reading the paper and having a cup of coffee. It looks so lush and beautiful. I've even scrapbooked on the patio on warm summer days. I love being outside! Maybe I'll host one of my stamp-a-stack classes on the patio!!

Now you can picture me outside enjoying my patio with my dogs!

Co-Op

I belong to a produce co-op in my community. Every other week I purchase a basket of local produce for $23. Tonight I went to pick up my basket and I got there early enough to help them sort the produce. It was so much fun. The ladies that coordinate this co-op were so organized. I was very impressed. Look at all the stuff I got.

The only problem is that it's a little fruit heavy -- I'd rather have more vegetables than fruit but I'm learning to like the fruit.

If you live in the Alton/Godfrey, IL area, ask me about the co-op. You may want to join and get your own basket of fresh, local produce!!

The New Catalog is Coming!!!

Do you want to pre-order a 2010-2011 Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog? I will be putting in my order on May 31, so that I will receive the first shipment of catalogs that go out, they are scheduled to ship around June 18, so I should have them before the end of June.

April Showers brings May Flowers!

Here are the cards we are making for my May Stamp-a-Stack classes. They all have beautiful flowers on them. May is such a pretty time for flowers. I'm a little late in planting flowers on my patio this year. I hope to get that done this weekend but right now it's raining so I decided to share some cards with flowers!!

One of my customers purchased two of the two-step stamp sets from last month's special and asked if I would like to borrow them and make cards for our class. Of course, what a great idea!!! On this card I used the Greenhouse Garden set. I totally CASEd the card here -- why mess with a good thing. I used a few of the retiring colors as a fond farewell -- I'm going to miss some of them.

One of my favorite stamp sets in the new Summer Mini Catalog is Elements of Style. There is so much you can do with it. I've highlighted this stamp set at my classes this month with two different looks. The first is a beautiful black & white card using Whisper White cardstock and Stazon ink. (Note: SU Basic Black ink has an almost blue shade to it so for true black I used Stazon.) Check out Alison's blog to see where I got the idea. It is so classy - it would make a great wedding card!

Where's my Mama?

Okay, I went away last weekend for Mother's Day. Here is a picture of one of my dogs, Luke, that I found when I was going through some old pictures. Even though I took this picture last fall (see the leaves), this is what he does when I'm not home. He just waits for me at the door. Isn't he the cutest? It's so nice to come home to my dogs -- they are the best welcoming group!!!

Any way, my daughter, Missy, lives near Madison, WI and since I live in St. Louis, MO one of us has to travel on Mother's Day. Many times we try to meet in the middle for a "girls weekend." Bloomington, IL is half way between Madison and St. Louis. We had a great time last weekend. Bloomington has a nice mall and great restaurants so we did a little shopping and a LOT of eating. Missy treated me most of the weekend but Sunday we went to a fantastic Mother's Day brunch at the Parke Hotel. Check out the desserts!!!

I think we sampled all of them!!! Here we are before eating -- afterwards they just rolled us out of the hotel, lol!!!

Today is my 15th wedding anniversary. I can't believe how quickly time flies. My sweet husband, Art, and I have known each other for 17 years!! The blessings I've received through being married to him are immeasurable -- his three children have given me the 7 most beautiful grandchildren ever!

Times may get tough, frustration and irritation may come and go but the bottom line is -- I love you, sweetie. Happy Anniversary!!

Girls in Caps!

I know it's been awhile since I've posted any of my card or scrapbook projects, but let me show you what I've been working on. I've now come back to crocheting. I was knitting this winter but I found this simple pattern for these adorable skull caps. Well, of course, I had to make some for my cutie putie granddaughters.

Here is 3 1/2 year old Grace wearing a cap made with "self-striping" cotton yarn. Isn't she adorable sitting on Grampy's lap?

Look at Guinevere (5 years old) with all her personality!! We had our own little "camera shoot" in the backyard. I can see her on America's Top Model some day (or it could be that I'm just a little biased and think she's too stinkin' cute, lol!!)

Scallop Trim Corner Punch

Hey, check this out -- I tried using the Scallop Corner Punch along with the Scallop Trim Border Punch. I watched the video on the SU website and it seemed easy. Well, after many unsuccessful tries, I think I finally have somewhat mastered it. One of my customers wanted me to demo it at our monthly stamp-a-stack so I had to be the expert. It proved to be a little difficult and I'm not sure it was one of their favorite techniques. However, we all loved the card -- it's so springy!!!

Wow, spring where did you go?? Here in the St. Louis area we've been experiencing summer weather (sunny and in the mid-80's for the last 4-5 days). Unfortunately, I suffer from allergies and all that tree pollen is killing me. It's supposed to rain tomorrow so I hope it washes all that yellow pollen that is coating everything outside away!

While I'm sequestered to the inside, I've been busy with my April SAS cards. The first is a card we made at one of our Gateway Glitter 'n Ink group meetings. My customers had seen it in my basket of cards and wanted to make it. It's so simple and clean -- I just love it.

What a Haul!!

My daughter-in-law, Sarah, my friend, Pam, and I went to the Creating Keepsakes Convention in St. Louis (Gateway Convention Center) this past weekend. It was Sarah and Pam's first time to experience the Vendor Fair and you should have seen their jaws drop! It was so much fun to watch them "ooh and ah" over all the cool stuff.

I have tons of paper and stuff that I didn't buy much but I was there as a "consultant" to Sarah. She is a newbie to scrapbooking and I'm helping her build her stash (what a great job -- helping someone spend money, lol!!). And did she get a lot of cool stuff -- look at see our big haul!! This is just Sarah and my stuff -- Pam didn't bring her stuff inside for show and tell when we got home. I know she got a lot of great stuff too because she had to go back to her car at one point to free her hands for more purchases! What a great day ...

Check out the beautiful butterfly embellishments. They just sparkle and make me smile.

SU is Spring cleaning!

Well, not exactly Spring cleaning but they are renovating their color collections. They have brought back some of our In-Color favorites, retired some of our favorites and added five new exciting core colors. They also organized the colors in all NEW collections -- I just memorized the color families and now they go and change them all!!! The new colors will be available in July.

The new colors are: Marina Mist, Cherry Cobbler, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso and Daffodil Delight. Kraft cardstock was renamed Crumb Cake. Click on the picture below to get a closer look.

More of My First Design Studio Album

Here are the next four pages of my album. It was so easy and I love the way it turned out.

Added the word together to the layout. "Happy Together" reminds me of the old Turtles song -- that's not what they were playing on Rock Band!

I added the three brads and put layers behind the photos to bring out the red in the pictures. I think it pops!

March Stamp-a-Stack

I wanted to take a quick moment and post the cards that are featured in my March classes. They are all so "springy" and make me happy. I don't have time to post the supplies used so if you need to know just post a comment and I'll share.

The first card uses an oldy but goody stamp set -- You Crack Me Up. I love the baby chicks coming out of the eggs. The scalloped paper is from the Shades of Spring DSP using the eyelet border punch.

The second card is cute enough to eat!! That chocolate bunny looks real. I used the Sending Love Specialty paper and the Sale-a-Bration punch. Isn't it adorable?

Here is great masculine card -- at least that's what I think. My husband said he was not wild about the teal cardstock. I told him it was Bermuda Bay and it goes great with the Chocolate Chip. I used the Vintage Label Sale-a-Bration stamp set, Perfect Detail Texturz Plate and Thoroughly Modern DSP. Anyway, what do you all think?

The last card for today is one that I made for the Gateway Glitter 'n Ink One-on-One Monthly Swap. It's so much fun to make one card and send it to your stampin buddy for that month. Each month your buddy changes and you receive back a card from whoever had your name. I liked this card because it was simple and can be for Easter, birthday, Mother's Day, etc. I used the Happy Moments Sale-a-Bration stamp set and Old Olive DSP.

My First Design Studio Album

I'm so excited. I realized something about myself this weekend. I have an obsessive personality! I've always been obsessed with crafty things that's how I became a Stampin' Up demonstrator. Recently, my stepdaughter got me obsessed with knitting and because of being a SU demo I've become obsessed with scrapbooking -- well now I have ANOTHER new obsession -- digital scrapbooking using My Design Studio. I received MDS for Christmas from my husband (okay, he just gave me the money so I could order it) and I finally had time to play this weekend. I'M HOOKED!

Check out my first album. I decided to just use one of the beautiful designer kits provided in MDS. I chose Sunny Day to capture our Grames' family summer birthday celebration. I'm going to share a few pages each day so please check back often and let me know what you think. It's always nice to hear from you all!!

Here is my husband (in the middle) and his two brothers and all the kids. My husband's children are all married with children so all the little ones around him are our grandchildren.

This is a better picture of the three Grames boys (my husband is still in the middle).

Kids and Swings make a fun day. These are more of my grandchildren -- I have twelve!

My Newest Obsession!

I know you are all thinking I don't need another obsession. Stamping and scrapbooking have been my passion for the last 7 years and I've spent plenty of money feeding my obsession, LOL!!! However, my stepdaughter, Leah, asked if I could teach her to knit. We are both Twilight fanatics (okay, she's a little more obsessed with Edward than I am) and she had found "wrist warmers" worn by Alice in the New Moon movie. Well, we both HAD TO HAVE THEM!! Thus began my obsession with knitting. My mom taught me to knit when I was a teenager and I found out it's like riding a bike -- you never forget. So I needed to make a pair of wrist warmers first so I could teach Leah. This led to numerous trips to JoAnn's and Michael's to get knitting needles, yarn and patterns. Below you can see one of my pairs of wrist warmers that I made. These are for my good friend, Ashley, who owns the local scrapbook store that I frequent, Scrapbook Castle 316. She is also a Twilight fanatic -- wait aren't we all!!!

While I was drooling over all the yarns at JoAnn's, I found patterns for dishclothes made with cotton yarn. One of my customers, Mary Ann, makes these for me and so did my mom so I had to try these myself. Check out my first dishcloth in my favorite color -- lime green!!!

That's enough for now. I've got to get back to my knitting!!! I hope you enjoyed my lastest obsession.

February Stamp-a-Stack

Here are the cards that we made during my February Stamp-a-Stack classes. Many of the ideas I got from attending the "Super Bowl of Stamping" which was hosted by three of the best stampers in our Gateway Glitter 'n Ink group -- Sally Nusbaum, Sarah Klasing and Mary Derhake! Whenever these ladies get together and plan an event it is the place to be and the Super Bowl of Stamping was no exception.

This first card is sized at 3x6 and fits in the small open-end envelopes. I loved the colors -- it looks like spring!

Happy Valentine's Day

I know, it's the day after Valentine's Day. I'm a little late sharing my Valentine creations. I made all these cute little Valentine's for my 8 grandchildren who live near me. (My other 4 live in Wisconsin.) Actually there are only 7 treats because Mylah is only 6 months old and doesn't need candy!

My inspiration came from Diana's blog. I used the Sweetheart stamp set (clear-mount) and the cute heart-shaped treat cups offered as a special promotion for Valentine's Day. The other punches I used was the small heart punch from the Occasions Mini and the round tab punch and corner punch from the IB&C. The treats are a 3x3 note card with a 2 x 2 5/8 inch piece of cardstock that slides between the front of the card and the 2 7/8 inch cardstock that holds treat cup. This way it hold the candy in yet the kids can still get it out.

After making these on Sunday afternoon, I decided to deliver them to my grandchildren. To our surprise the weather changed quickly and we found ourselves in the middle of a winter storm. It was lots of fun and the kids were so happy to see Grammy and Grampy show up all snowy with candy!!!

My Poor Baby!!

My oldest dog, Luke, has had a skin tag/tumor since late summer. It didn't seem to bother him and wasn't very big. It was in a place he really couldn't get at. Well, last Saturday night as I was in my craft room, I noticed he was licking his legs more than usual. He is a "licker" but seemed to be really interested in what he was doing. That's when I noticed that his "tumor" had grown to twice the size and was now bothering him. I won't go into the gory details but off to the animal hospital my husband and I went -- great way to spend a Saturday night together, LOL!.

My baby ended up having surgery that evening and came home the next day. Everything went well with his surgery but I was worried he would have to wear one of those cone-shaped collars to keep him from licking his stitches. Instead, the vet recommended he wear a T-shirt. He looks so cute in it that I had to take his picture. As you can see, he isn't that crazy about it or he's irritated at me for taking his picture. Either way, he sure is a pathetic like boy!!

"Do you have to take my picture??"

"Mom, go way -- leave me alone!!"

Okay, I wanted to get my January Stamp-a-Stack post done while it was still January!! Does anyone else feel like this first month of the year went by too fast. Well, I've already held one of my February on Tuesday and I'm still trying to get my January post up.

Most of these cards are for Valentine's Day which are always fun to make. The first one is from the Christmas shoebox swap I attended. I think it was designed by Lynn Luetkemeyer. Thanks, Lynn, for a great card that I could use at my class -- what a time saver!

Shoebox Swap Cards

I attended the Gateway Glitter 'n Ink group Christmas party back on December 11th. It's always a fun time with a "shoebox swap," gift exchange and food! This year we made 14 swaps. If you're not familiar with what this is it is where you create a card or 3-D item and furnish all the supplies for the attendees to make your project -- placed in a "shoebox." Well, actually not really a shoebox but everything should be ready to stamp and assembly and placed in a container. We then go around the tables and create everyone's projects. We try to make them quick & easy so we aren't there all night trying to get every card made. Here are some of the cards that we made that night:

Love this winter "easel" card by Sarah Klassing.

This one is my shoebox swap. Simple but cute!

We learned how to do "iris folding" with Sally Nusbaum's card. (Oh, I forgot to color my little guy, LOL!!!)

An adorable Valentine card using one of my all time favorite stamp sets -- Crazy for Cupcakes. When I use that set it always makes me hungry for cupcakes!! This card was made by AliciaTomicich-Wiley.

Another cute card using new product from the Occasions Mini - I {heart} hearts stamp set and the new punches!! Card made by Earleen McDaniel.

Loved this beautiful butterfly card. It is so spring-like. Unfortunately, I can't remember whose swap this was ... sorry!

I love the new speciality DSP on this card ... Sending Love ... it's all glittery and sparkly! Card made by Cathy Reash.

Cookie Exchange

I tried something different this month. Instead of holding my two evening stamp-a-stack classes, I combined the two into a fun evening and held a cookie exchange. The ladies came with a dozen cookies for each person and an extra dozen for snacking. You can't have a party without food!! As an appreciation gift for them, I CASEd this cute gift item -- snowman soup. I found it here and it was just too stinking cute to change!! Unfortunately, I didn't have the Holiday Lineup stamp set so I used the retired set Flaky Friends. Everyone loved them.

Here we are making our project. Instead of going down in my basement we stayed in the dining room to enjoy the Christmas tree.

Check out the cookies. They were all delicious and we shared our recipes. It was a fun evening with good friends and good food.

I'm Back ...

I've received a few comments like, "Where are you?", "When are you coming back?" and "I'm tired of seeing this adorable mini book when I open your blog! LOL!" It's nice to know that there are people out there looking at my blog. For all of you wondering where I've been -- it's been life!! The holiday season has hit and hit early!! I'm crazy busy (as most of you are too) preparing for my holiday workshops and stamp camps.

It's Veteran's Day today and as we stop and thank the brave men and women who keep us safe, it's also given me time to get caught up on STUFF. Since I work for the U.S. Postal Service (St. Louis Law Department), I have the day off.

Christmas Mini Scrapbook

I made this scrapbook using the Scallop Square Bigz Clear Die. The 4 1/2 square scrapbook is adorable. Don't you think? I used the Christmas Cocoa Specialty Designer Series Paper. The front and back covers were cut from the white cardboard that comes in SU's DSP packs and then covered with DSP. The pages are Real Red and Soft Suede cardstock.

I'm going to make another scrapbook this weekend using Merry Moments DSP for my Christmas Stamp Camp. They are so fun and easy to make I may just make a bunch for Christmas gifts!!

Christmas Stamp Camp

I wanted to share a few "sneak peeks" of the projects you can make at my Annual Christmas Stamp Camp on Saturday, October 24th at 9:00-??. Fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrator, Sue Mayfield, and I host this event each year. This year it is being held at my brand new church, Godfrey First United Methodist Church. I'm so excited to show off our new building!

Participants will make 4 gift items and 4 special Christmas cards. Below is a card I made using the Christmas Cocoa Specialty Designer Series Paper and the new Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint both from the Holiday Mini Catalog. I hope you can see the pretty shimmer to the card in the close up. I CASEd this card here.

Below are two projects that Sue designed. The first is a "long" card made out of an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of cardstock. She used the new Ornament Punch also from the Mini Catalog. The other item is an adorable gift card holder using the Top Note Die and, of course, Dasher!!

Another card creation by Sue. She used the Movers & Shapers Curly Label Die and the Merry Moments Designer Series Paper. The stamps are from the Christmas Punch Hostess set.

Christmas Jingle SAS (last but not least!)

Here are the last of my Christmas Stamp-a-Stack cards. The card below used one of the last self-adhesive embellishments in the 1/2 scrappin' kit and it was the 21st card. I wanted to make 30 cards per 1/2 scrappin' kit so I had to become creative and use coordinating stamps.

For the cards below I still had two 6x12 pieces of the DSP left so I chose cards I had already made using the self-adhesive embellishments from the kit and used stamps instead. The card below I had enough DSP to make two identical cards. I think all of the cards below turned out perfect. They coordinate so well with the scrappin' kit.

I used the "Santa (postage) stamp" from the Hostess set Christmas Punch.

For the cards below, I used Tree Trimmings and was inspired by the card here on SplitcoastStampers.

Lastly, I needed three more cards to complete my 30. I think "Dasher" is so cute. My inspiration for Dasher came from the cards here.

So if your counting -- there should be 30 cards. My first class for these cards are on October 18. I can't believe I'm all ready!!!

I hope you enjoyed seeing all my Christmas Jingle cards. I really think this is one of the best Simple Scrappin' Kits and the cards went together so well. Next, I'll post some of the projects for my upcoming Holiday Stamp Camp. Check back ...

Christmas Jingle - Part 4

Still more cards from my Christmas Jingle Stamp-a-Stack. I stamped "Dasher" on my first card below. I used the Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint on the stamp. I inked up the stamp with Chocolate Chip classic ink then lightly sponged on the shimmer paint before stamping onto the cardstock. You can see the "shimmer" more on the close up. It's really pretty in person!

I used the Perfect Details Texturz Plate for the background of this card.

I have one more set of cards to post. Check back on Monday. I'm off to the pumpkin patch this afternoon with my grandchildren!!!

I promised you all a close up of each of my cards for my Christmas Stamp-a-Stack (SAS). As I said in my original post, my inspirations for these cards came from two talented stampers, Erin and Jeanne. I think the Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin' kit is one of my all time favorite SU Christmas papers.

A Very Productive Weekend!

I found myself this past weekend with no commitments! My DH had to work on Saturday so I was all alone -- just me and my three dogs! I had coffee on the patio, read some of my book and went down to my workshop to complete my Christmas Jingle Stamp-a-Stack. Each participant will use one-half (2 sheets of DSP and 3 self-adhesive embellishment sheets per person) of the Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin' kit and get 30 cards. I managed to design 21 cards. I have two small pieces of the DSP left but no self-adhesive embellishments so I plan on using the Tree Trimming or Dasher stamp sets to make my last few cards.

Below are the 12 cards I designed this weekend.

Busy as one of Santa's Elves!

I can't believe it is September and I'm working on my annual Christmas Stamp-a-Stack card designs! I always wait until late October, maybe even into November before I start designing. With my latest obsession for "getting organized," I've been trying to get things done long before they are needed. I'm a procrastinator and that's hard for me. I've posted pictures of what I've designed so far. The inspiration (CASEing) for these cards came from two very talented stampers. Check out their blogs: Erin and Jeanne. I've been following Erin's blog since I started and she directed me to Jeanne's blog for many of the designs for these cards. Isn't it great we can share what we love to do!!

These cards are for my annual Christmas Stamp-a-Stack (which is my most popular event) where we make cards using a Simply Scrappin' Kit. I hope to have a total of 30 cards using half of the Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin' Kit, coordinating stamps, and other DSP and cardstock to supplement.

September Stamp-a-Stack

It's that time again -- my two monthly SAS classes. I've had an enjoyable Labor Day weekend preparing for my classes. To have everything done by the 7th of the month is awesome. That gives me more time to "declutter" my house and maybe even tackle my stamping room!! I'm bound and determined to get everything purged, cleaned and organized by the end of the year because the next project will be painting the room after the holidays.

Anyway, here are the cards I created for this month. I love the Medallion stamp and couldn't wait to make a card. It's so simple yet looks classy! I cased this card here. I loved the colors she chose so I didn't change a thing. I inked the Medallion stamp with Crushed Curry and then used Dusty Durango ink using direct to stamp for the edges and a little in the center.

I finally broke down and got the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set. I've seen so many pretty cards and things made out of it that I had to have it! I was inspired by this card when creating my "thank you ... thank you ... thank you" card below.

Thoughts & Prayers was one of the first stamp sets on my wish list when I saw the new catalog. I decided it was time to make a card with this beautiful tree. I cased it from here. One of my favorite seasons is fall which brings us Halloween. I love Halloween. I think it's the colors and all the ghosts & gobblins I like. These last two cards are my own creation. I know, you can't believe it -- but I do sometimes have time to create my own designs. I love the "Twick or Tweet" stamp set in the Holiday Mini especially the skeleton and the little dog!! The sentiment says "It's Halloween ... enjoy every bite." I liked the design so much I made it in two different colors. I got the inspiration for the coloring on the second card here. I like them both. What do you think?

Decluttering

Does it seem like the only time I post cards I make is in prep for my SAS? Now that I think about it that's true. I have a hard time finding time to stamp for fun. I just have too much stuff that doesn't have a home which makes me anxious and constantly trying to organize which just eats up my creative time. One day while surfing the net (I know, I could have been stamping) I came across this wonderful website Simply 101. The creator is Aby Garvey. I'd heard her speak at a CK Convention a few years ago and even purchased her book which I can't find! See, I'm totally disorganized!! She offers on-line workshops so I took one entitled "Help! I don't know where to Begin." It has changed my life. I have a LONG way to go but I now know that disorganization can make you very unhappy and frustrated in your life. I spend more time looking for something than doing all the time.

During the one week course, we were to commit to 15 minutes per day to declutter an area. You could do 30 minutes but the idea is not to get overwhelmed. My first 15 minutes I tackled my food cupboard. I figured it would be easy to decide what to toss -- if it's expired out it goes! Well, here is my before and after pictures.

I took out 3 garbage bags of expired food which included food I put in an "overflow" closet. Most of the overflow was expired but I now had room to put everything into the main cupboard. My husband was so proud of me. I was pretty proud too.

The remainder of the week I took 15 minutes each day to organize my Tupperware cupboard and glasses/coffee mugs cupboard. I actually had 40 coffee mugs which I've slimmed down to 20. I do collect coffee mugs so I figure keeping 20 was good. Just these few places I've organized has made me feel better -- not as stressed. If you have clutter in your life too, I suggest you check out Aby's website, read her blog and take an on-line course. She has organizational tips for scrapbooking supplies which is what I really need to work on -- but I'm taking baby steps! I'll get there.

The theme for this month's Stamp-a-Stack is "3-D" cards using the Big Shot. I'm in love with Stampin' Up!'s Big Shot and their great dies. I just had to share how much fun it is to make cards using Stampin' Up!'s dies. My first card uses the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz die. I CASEd this card from the July 2009 Stampin' Success magazine. Two of my customers love blue and yellow -- so this card is for them.

Remembering Summers' Past - Part 2

This is Courtney and Megan in August 2006. They loved the City Museum -- so many places to explore. Unfortunately, August in St. Louis is very hot so the activities outside were a little to hot to enjoy.

Something every girl enjoys is SHOPPING! We spent hours at St. Louis Mills -- it helped to keep us cool.

Scrapbooking is something I wanted to share it with Courtney & Megan. We decided that each year they visit we would take pictures of our time together and make a scrapbook. Each of them made their own mini album.

Check them out -- Courtney is a "butterfly and bling" sort of girl.

Megan is a sports nut. Two totally different personalities!

Here we are in Wisconsin when we took the girls home. I always hate the good-byes!!

Remembering Summers' Past

I can't believe August is almost here. I'm looking forward to my two grand-
daughter's annual visit. It's a time that is very special to me and I get very excited the closer it comes. Courtney (14) and Megan (12) live in Wisconsin. I go back home about 4-5 times a year to visit all of my family who live in or near Madison. I have 4 grandchildren up there: Courtney, Megan, Hunter (4) and Tyler (13).

I was looking through pictures from the last few years and I wanted to share them. I noticed how quickly they have grown! This picture is from August 2005 when we went to the Magic House.

Here they are swimming at my daughter Leah's house. Her pool is always a big hit with the girls.

New In-Colors -- I love 'em!!

Happy 4th of July

I hope you all had a "sparkling" 4th of July. Unfortunately, here in St. Louis it poured rain most of the day. However, it stopped late in the afternoon and we were able to set off a few of our fireworks. It wouldn't be a 4th of July without little ones blowing bubbles and showing their excitement over the fireworks. We spent the afternoon at my step-daughter Leah and her husband Mike's home. It was supposed to be a "pool party" but the weather did not cooperate. Friends came over with their daughter Mia to play with my grandchildren Ella and Michael "Bubby."

I tried to capture the "sparkling" event. Mike set up a "firework" launching area on the far side of the pool. It was perfect. The reflection of the fireworks in the pool was beautiful.

The evening ended with a downpour of rain just AFTER we had put everything away and went into the house!! We had a great 4th of July.

June Stamp-a-Stack Cards

Here are the cards I made for this month's Stamp-a-Stack (SAS) which I hold on the 2nd and 3rd Tuesdays of each month. For the summer months we are making 6 cards (2 of 3 different designs). We don't want to give up stamping but our schedules are just a lot busier. I actually had hoped to "Stamp on the Patio" in June. I have a beautiful, peaceful patio with a gazebo, ceiling fan, water fountain and lush plants and flowers all around. I had visions of a cool summer evening with a pitcher of pink lemonade and other snacks where we could stamp with the sound of crickets, frogs, etc. Well, the 2nd Tuesday in June was cool enough but we had thunderstorms (no stamping outside that night). My other SAS was last night (moved to the 4th Tuesday because of VBS) and the temperature was in the 90s with a heat index near 100 degrees. Just a little too hot to stamp outside -- it's not "sweating with the stamps."

Two cards this month have a summer theme (which would have went nicely with my outside idea). This one I cased from here. I changed it just a bit but the minute I saw it I loved it -- watermelon is one of my summertime favorites! The seeds were hand drawn and then we put Crystal Effects on them.

For the second card I used the "Life's a Breeze" stamp set which is retiring. I bought it over a year ago and I never used it. I figured why not use it quick before it's gone! I cased this card directly from Splitcoaststampers. I loved it so much that I made it exactly like the original.

I admit at first it was not a stamp I liked but after making the card and seeing what other demonstrators made with that set I think I have to buy it myself. I found my inspiration here but decided to treat them to the new In Colors and the Razzleberry Lemonade DSP. I think it turned out really nice.

I've been away from my blog for so long. I'm sure some of you thought I'd fallen off the planet. Well, I've immersed myself in the Bayou. I've been preparing our decorations and set for our Vacation Bible School at my church. I do this every year and every year I tell myself I'm going to be more organized and get more done with little effort but it never really works out that way.

I have been busy for the last three weeks shopping for supplies, coordinating work days, organizing the projects and working day and night to transform our church into a Bayou for our 2009 VBS theme of "Crocodile Dock."

It's amazing what you can make out of the large sheets of foam insulation. We needed 13 4' x 8' sheets of the thick foam. Using an amazing tool -- the Hot Knife -- I was able to cut, mold and shape the form into a rundown shack, dock and backdrop.

Here are two of my helpers, Libby and Susan, working on the shack. We needed to make it look old and moldy. I think it looks pretty good.

I always seem to volunteer my husband for these projects. Here he is using my "hot knife" to make the foam look like a wooden dock.

With a little paint it looks like real wood!!!

Next came the 12 foot cypress tree. My helpers here are Libby's and Susan's husbands, Alex and Joe. It was a TALL job but they were having a fun time.

Once we had the PVC pipe and chicken wire frame made for the tree, we covered it with twisted brown kraft wrapping paper. It was starting to look like a tree!

Here is the finished tree. It's amazing what you can do with PVC pipe, chicken wire, brown paper and a few fake plants. The moss was made dipping cheesecloth in watered down green paint.

Here is the finished shack and dock. We added lanterns out of Gatorade bottles and put battery-operated tea lights in them. The pylons are made of carpet tubes and Sono tubes that we cut, painted and tied together.

Here is the entire set. I think it looks great. It's so amazing how all this starts out with some foam sheets and paint and turns into a realistic Bayou for our "Crocodile Dock."

Now add the children and you have a fun Vacation Bible School. We had approximately 85 kids attend this year. It runs all week - Sunday through Friday from 6-8:30 p.m. There's lots of music, crafts, snacks and Bible stories.

My 4-year old granddaughter, Guinevere, (in the pink dress) had a great time. This was her first year and she just loved to dance to the special VBS songs.

With two weeks of preparing the props and decorations and then the week of VBS every night, I was exhausted by Friday night! It took me the rest of the weekend to recuperate. Now I can finally get back to stamping!!

I've been bitten!!

I admit -- I thought everyone was crazy every time they talked about the "Twilight" book series. I was too old to read about a high school girl who falls in love with a vampire. Seriously!!!

Well, after being coaxed by my friends, I decided to give the first book a try. The title of this entry describes what happened. I've been bitten by the handsome vampire, Edward!!

Reading these romantic, suspenseful novels has become my latest obsession. So if some of you have been wondering where I've been, I've been lost in the small town of Forks, Washington engrossed in vampires and werewolves!!!

I did have to stop reading long enough to prepare for my monthly stamp-a-stack classes. I'll share with you what we made this month -- as soon as I can put down the third book "Eclipse." It looks like it will be another late night reading!!

"Show & Tell" Time

I always loved "show & tell" at school. It always made me feel special when I could share something with the whole class and tell them all about my "special" item. I love it so much that I still do it at work!!! I get very excited when I get to share my creations with my girlfriend, Jenny. I come in to work and declare -- "I have show & tell." She loves to look at my creations and is very enthusiastic -- she is my number one fan, LOL!!!

So today is "show & tell." Here are my cards for my month of classes. I have three Stamp-a-Stack classes and I prepare the same cards for each class which makes my prep time easier.

Sneak Peek at Swap

Here is the card I've made for my swap at the Gateway Glitter 'n Ink group meeting tomorrow. I used the new DSP Good Morning Sunshine, Kiwi Kiss, Summer Sun, Whisper White and Chocolate Chip cardstock. The stamp set is A Little Birdie Told me. I haven't received my second order from the new catalog to get my Cheep Talk stamp set so I used this set. I just love the little birds!!

"Love" Cards

Love is in the air. It's such a nice time to be making pretty pink and red cards after all the Christmas holiday preparations. Valentine's Day is great time to let the ones you love know how much you care and a perfect time to make a hand-made, heartfelt card. Here are a few I've been working on. This first one was created by Cathy at our Gateway Glitter 'n Ink Holiday party shoebox swap. We had just received the our pre-order of the Love You Much bundle and it was fun to play with the stamp set and punch.

Here is another one using the Love You Much bundle. I just love the little "love birds." I got the idea here. I used Candy Lane DSP, Pink Pirouette, Very Vanilla & Chocolate Chip cardstock, Pretty in Pink taffeta ribbon and, of course, the fabulous Heart to Heart punch.

This card is adorable because it uses Riding Hood Red, Basic Black and Whisper White cardstock. One of my favorite combinations. The DSP is Riding Hood Red and the ribbon is RHR taffeta. I got the idea here. I even bravely doodled around the love birds!!

Lastly, this one is my favorite from one of my favorite blogs to follow -- Tiffanyscardtique. It seemed to be the favorite of my Stamp-a-Stack group too. It also uses RHR DSP, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White and Riding Hood Red cardstock, along with RHR striped ribbon. I loved that the card had rounded corners -- such a simple thing to do but it made the card very unique. Thanks for stopping by and looking at my cards. Let me know what you think?
